Birthday reflections and Christmas wishes

Tardis Advice is three. Hip Hip Hooray!

Happy Birthday Tardis Advice. We recently celebrated our third birthday at the Crosstown Public House. It was a lovely venue and the staff did a wonderful job keeping us well feed and well hydrated. Thank you to everyone who made the effort to come along. It was a fun evening and was great to catch up with everyone in a relaxed environment.

Three years. Some might say this is a big achievement in small business. Some might say we have barely started our journey. Tanya and I had mixed feelings about Tardis turning three.

As some of you know, I can be quite hard on myself. I set high standards and naturally can feel a bit deflated if I don’t reach my goals. So, reflecting back, year one and year two we smashed it; we well exceeded what we had hoped and planned. It was a wonderful feeling. It left us enthused and excited for the future.

Year three was somewhat different; year three was still really good, but not as a good as our first two. We ticked off a lot of what we wanted to achieve, even exceeded expectations in a few areas. But, in some areas, we didn’t quite get there. We certainly did achieve a lot, however we didn’t achieve everything we had hoped. In spite of this, I can honestly say I am OK with that. I’ve been reminded of the same lesson I try to get across to others in times like these……

Things don’t always go to plan. It is how we respond and replan that makes the difference.

It is about remembering we have progressed, continued to achieve and are a better business than we were 12 months ago. That to me is success.

Tardis Advice is not about year to year. It is about the long term. I started Tardis with a long term plan to create a sustainable business that supported my family and our lifestyle and helped amazing people along their journey doing rewarding and challenging work. Business, like life, has its ups and downs. That is part of what makes the journey so rewarding.

So as the year draws to an end, I find it helpful to:-
• Focus on what we did achieve;
• Trust in our long term direction and plans;
• Reflect and take time out to enjoy where we are right now.

I am a firm believer that all successes should be celebrated, big and small. I like to focus on the positives and take heart in knowing that the areas for improvement will continue to get better and better. It’s about reflecting, refocusing and enjoying the ride.

Christmas Wishes

As a final note, as Christmas gets closer (less than three weeks!) I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for being an important part of the Tardis journey. All in all it has been a wonderful year for Tanya and I and the Tardis team. We sincerely thank you for your support and involvement!

We hope you have had a great 2016 and wish you an even better 2017.
