A 'thank you' wine and cheese evening
We were fortunate enough to be able to hold a wine and cheese evening at our new office in Stones Corner.
A sincere thank you to everyone who made the effort to attend, especially in the busy Christmas period.
It was a wonderful evening with a focus on good company and of course good wine and cheese.
We had the privilege of Dan Pearce from InCider Trading running the drinks and nibbles side of evening. Dan owns a boutique Wine and Cider Bottleshop and Bar in Fortitude Valley. From his stories it sounds like it’s been quite a journey from conception to opening day. Dan has a unique liquor license (fruit based beverages only) and supplies wine to a lot of local restaurants. Dan came with his business partner Rob, who is directly involved in making some of the wines and ciders.
The focus of the night was matching wine and cheese. Dan picked some great wines to try on the night: one each of a white, red and desert wine, matched superbly with a cheddar, brie and blue (respectively). For those into wine and details: from Hahndorf Hill Winery we started with a Gruner Veltliner 2013, apparently recognised as the most food-friendly wine on the plant. The red was a Cabernet/Petite Verdot/Shiraz/Malbec 2008 mix from Ash Grove Estate. The highlight for me was the sticky, a Botrytis Pinot Gris 2012 from Lake George. Thanks to Dan for his excellent wine choices!
I did intend to take photos throughout the evening… but got side tracked by the wine and great company!
Thank you again to all those who were able to come along. It is honestly a pleasure to be able to partner with such great people.
Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas Holiday!
